Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 price in Europe

NEW YORK (AP) - Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Corp. said Monday it is slashing the price of the Xbox 360 in Europe by 80 euros (about $123) to widen the market for the consoles ahead of the launch of 'Grand Theft Auto IV,' one of the year's most highly anticipated games.

The lowest-priced Xbox 360 Arcade console, which does not come with a hard drive but includes 256 megabytes of storage, will cost 199.99 euros ($307) beginning Friday -- 80 euros lower than its current estimated retail price.

The 20 gigabyte console will now cost 269.99 euros ($415) and the Xbox 360 Elite, which comes with a 120 gigabyte hard drive, will cost 369.99 euros ($568).
