The TSX Venture Exchange is one of two stock exchanges owned and operated by the TMX Group (the other being the Toronto Stock Exchange). It focuses on micro and small cap companies that do not satisfy the Toronto Stock Exchange's listing criteria. In essence, it is a public venture equity market that provides an opportunity for investors to be part of regulated venture investments.
The TSX Venture Exchange is well known for attracting resource companies, although stocks usually span a variety of sectors, including industrial, life sciences, technology and financial services. Originally founded in 1999 as the Canadian Venture Exchange, it was renamed the TSX Venture Exchange after being acquired by the TMX Group in 2001.[1]
