Inaccuracies in this writing This document is helpful at first, though some of the descriptions are not accurate and do not appear to be written by someone that is truly engrossed and knowledgeable of the cloud industry. Amazons EC2 is by no means a Platform, at least, not in the speaking of cloud enthusiasts. AWS provides Infrastructure. The description in this article for Infrastructure is way off line, so too is platforms.
See VOGELS, W. A Head in the Clouds—The Power of Infrastructure as a Service. In First workshop on Cloud Computing and in Applications (CCA ’08) (October 2008). and you can instantly tell that AWS VP even says that their stuff is Infrastructure.
Be wary in trusting what this document says about cloud computing.

Mis-statements & Bad Interpretations Quote: (from article page) In June 2011, a study conducted by VersionOne found that 91% of senior IT professionals actually don't know what cloud computing is and two-thirds of senior finance professionals are clear by the concept, [1] highlighting the young nature of the technology. - Answer, what they are describing as the Senior IT professionals are high-level management that are far removed from the day to day IT operations and more into the management of the profession and less on the technical side. - Cloud Computing is not that young, as early as 2005, Google produced a little web-app called Google-Docs, which is the youth form of its even early stage, which was GMail.
