Renewable energy development just makes plain good sense to me and many fellow Oklahomans. After research and attending the Governor's Biofuels Industry Conference at Oklahoma University (October 2006), I am convinced it is the only way to go. Industry and jobs would expand, and the benefits are numerous. No more foreign oil dependency, cleaner air, and a thriving energy industry are just a few of the benefits I see possible. Biochemical and genetic engineering research will find new ways to grow and process corn or switchgrass so that the alternative fuel will be more economically feasible to produce. Yes, the upcoming Iowa caucuses in January will put pressure on all candidates to adopt pro-ethanol policies and they should be held accountable once elected president. Perhaps GM would be interested in re-opening the plant they shut down here in Oklahoma to design and manufacture flex-fuel cars, which would be great news for Oklahoma.
As a zoologist and science teacher for 15 years, with experience in marketing, I hope to work in the bio-fuels industry someday.
Thank you for your time and interest in meeting tomorrow's demand for energy. Please let me know any update in news about your efforts.
