Butter futures are traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange under ticker symbol DB in cents per pound. Unlike many other commodities on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, butter futures contracts are not traded electronically.[1]

Delivery Dates

Butter futures are delivered every year in March, May, July, September, October, & December.[1]

Contract Size

One Butter futures contract on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange is 40,000 pounds.[1]

Daily Price Limit

$0.05 per pound above or below the previous day's settlement price, multiple expansions. No limits in the spot month.[1]

Trading Hours

Butters futures contracts are traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) in open outcry (pit sessions) Monday through Friday, 9:05 am to 1:10 pm, US Central time.[1]

Last Trading Day

Trading of Butter futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange ends on the business day immediately preceding the last seven business days of the contract month. On the last trading day, trading ends at 12:10 p.m. Central Time.[1]

Deliverable Grades

Deliverable Butter grades for futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange are: Grade AA Butter.[1]
