Corn futures are traded on the Chicago Board of Trade under ticker symbol C in cents per bushel. For electronic trading sessions, the symbol ZC is used.[1]

The chart at left shows front-month corn prices on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in U.S. cents per bushel.


Delivery Dates

Corn futures are delivered every year in March, May, July, September, & December.[1]

Contract Specifications

Contract Size

One Corn futures contract on the Chicago Board of Trade is 5,000 bushels.[1]

Daily Price Limit

$0.40 per bushel expandable to $0.60 when the market closes at limit bid or limit offer. There shall be no price limits on the current month contract on or after the second business day preceding the first day of the delivery month.[1]

Trading Hours

Corn futures contracts trade on the CBOT floor through open outcry (pit sessions) Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, US Eastern Time.

Corn futures contracts trade electronically through the CME Globex electronic trading platform from 6:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday through Friday, US Eastern Time.

Last Trading Day

Trading of Corn futures contracts on the Chicago Board of Trade ends on the business day prior to the 15th calendar day of the contract month.[1]

Deliverable Grades

Deliverable Corn grades for futures contracts on the Chicago Board of Trade are: #2 Yellow at contract Price, #1 Yellow at a 1.5 cent/bushel premium #3 Yellow at a 1.5 cent/bushel discount.[1]
