| A common reason for brokerages not syncing (especially if your brokerage also acts as a bank i.e. UBS, WellsTrade, Bank of America etc) is that some brokerages require the user to activate direct connect support (commonly known as Quicken support). Upon activating this, you will often receive a new set of online credentials for direct connect support. This set of credentials can be different from the ones you use for online banking. | A common reason for brokerages not syncing (especially if your brokerage also acts as a bank i.e. UBS, WellsTrade, Bank of America etc) is that some brokerages require the user to activate direct connect support (commonly known as Quicken support). This page is designed to help answer some commonly asked questions about Wikinvest's Portfolio.

Protecting and securing user data has been the absolute number one priority in building this product. We went through an exhaustive third-party security audit to validate the security of our platform, which was designed and built by the same people that built Amazon.com's technology for securing credit card numbers and it's secure checkout process. At every step along the way, from transmitting data over a secure connection, to encrypting user credentials from the moment they are entered, we've designed our architecture with security at the forefront.
Furthermore, Wikinvest's system is "read-only" into your investment accounts. As a result, it is impossible for someone to make trades or obtain funds from your account even if they compromised your Wikinvest login.
Tor those who do not wish to sync their accounts, you can add tickers to your watchlist and will soon be adding a way for users to enter transaction information including cost basis and share counts. In addition, we're building a way to upload a file to import your holdings.

If you are having additionaly difficulty syncing your account, please see the Portfolio Brokerage Sync Help page.
If your brokerage isn't currently supported, you can request it here. We are constantly adding more brokerages, so be on the lookout if your brokerage currently is not supported.
You can also manually add tickers to your watchlist. We will soon be adding the ability to enter in cost basis and holdings details as well.
Some brokerages limit the amount of transaction history we can pull, so if a position was taken prior to the limit on our history, we won't be able to display this data. For instance, if we can only pull 3 months of data, and you bought a stock a year ago, we won't be able to pull the cost basis. We are building a way to manually input cost basis, and should roll that out soon, so stay tuned.
The ability to manually input other data such as number of shares, etc to manually input your portfolio is also in the works.
If your performance relative to the S&P 500 or the Dow Jones Industrial Average looks a bit off, there may be a number of factors at play.
There is also the possibility that we are mis-classifying certain transactions, leading to irregular discontinuities in the performance. We are aware of this, and we are constantly updating our algorithms, so please check back often to see if your performance has been updated. You may find it helpful to refresh the page, or manually re-sync your account.
