The Capital Markets Equity Index (KTE) is a quarterly reconstituted, market capitalization weighted benchmark of the U.S. equity markets. It is designed to be a long-term measure of the U.S. common stock markets. The index was created by Dorchester Capital Management to meet the needs of both professionals and individual investors for a transparent, efficient and rules index. The index is comprised of 2,000 largest actively traded U.S. corporations (based on market capitalization of common stock) and represents more than 95% of the U.S. equity market.
The constituent members are revised quarterly. New qualifying securities are added only during index reconstitutions. Dorchester defines large capitalization as the 400 largest companies in the index, medium capitalization as the next 600 largest companies, and small capitalization as the remaining companies in the index.
On the last calendar day before the start of the quarter, if any of the selected equity Index constituents are no longer actively traded, they are replaced with the next eligible security with the largest market capitalization that is not a member of the Index, based upon the market capitalization from the fifth business day before the start of the quarter.
Limited partnerships, ETFs, American depositary receipts and closed-end funds are not eligible for inclusion in the Index. [1] [2]
