Hispanic Federation to Host Largest and Most Celebrated Latino Benefit in the Northeast

NEW YORK, April 19, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --



WHAT: On Thursday, April 19th, the Hispanic Federation, one of the nation's leading Latino organizations, will host its star-studded 2012 Annual Benefit Gala. Under the theme of "Carnaval Nueva York," the Federation's gala will convene more than 600 of the nation's leading public officials, community leaders, media celebrities and corporate elites to support programs and services for the Latino community. The Federation aims to raise $1 million dollars at the event.

WHO: The event will feature co-Masters of Ceremonies Laz Alonso, Hollywood star of blockbuster movies Avatar and Fast & Furious, and Entertainment Host of Univision's Sal y Pimienta Lourdes Stephen. A long list of elected officials will also be in attendance, including NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, NYS Senator Adriano Espaillat, NYS Assemblyman Peter Rivera, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn and NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, among others. Performances by Brazilian band Samba Novo will infuse guests with the contagious rhythms and sounds of Brazil's Carnaval.

This year's list of distinguished honorees includes Nielsen, the recipient of this year's Corporate Leadership Award. New York Giants Super Bowl Champion Wide Receiver Victor Cruz will be presented with the Premio Orgullo (Pride Award). Univision Networks' President, Cesar Conde will accept the Individual Achievement Award, and Jay Hershenson, Senior Vice Chancellor of the City University of New York (CUNY) will be honored with the Legacy Award. The Community Service Award will be given to Federation member agency Acacia Network.
