Your comment says that there are only two publicly traded BDCs - ALD and MCGC. There are in fact many more and you are missing the largest BDC - ACAS

BDCs were created to provide incentives for investment in small to mid-sized companies. They fall under the regulation of the 1934 and 1940 investment act, and enjoy certain tax and other benefits. There are currently more than 55 BDCs traded, and all BDCs are listed on an exchange, not "many"
