No I hadn't heard of Maglev but will definitely do my homework now. What is interesting about this, apart from the incredible efficiency rate, is the involvement of a Chinese power utility. Whenever emerging markets invest heavily in a clean technology company - or more broadly clean technology - this is doubly great for the industry niche and the environment.

Solid overview. While, wind power does in fact possess tremendous potential, one of the primary inhibitors of widespread utilization has to do with the vast expanse of land required for farms. So, with that in mind companies developing "small wind turbines" or turbines designed to power a few acres and hence for mass market sale - represent a tremendous break through. More importantly, these small wind power systems cost about half as much as solar alternatives. A good example of a company active in this area includes Southwest Windpower.

The issue with Siemens is, that the group is in so many businesses involved. Siemens is for sure no pure play in wind energy. Building coal and nuclear power plants etc. contributes much more to Siemens sales and earnings than wind energy. And in fact I'm not even sure that Winergy is part of the Siemens Group.
