Asset Net Inflows

Asset Net Inflows equals the total asset inflows minus the total asset outflows

This is a metric used in the Asset Management Industry as well as in other Financial Services. It is used to judge whether the company is experiencing a net increase or decrease in the total value of assets that are added or removed from under its management. This metric does not count changes in the values of the assets from normal market fluctuations. Instead, only new assets added or old assets are counted as an inflow and outflow respectively.

  • Company XYZ experiences the following: Customer A adds $50K to XYZ's management while Customer B removes $20K from management. Meanwhile, strong market conditions cause the entire value of the invested portfolio to rise by $30K. The Asset Net Inflows would equal $30K or $50K - $20K. Note how the change in market value is not counted.
