Average Commission per Trade is a metric used in the broker-dealer industry. Companies that charge their clients a commission for executing financial trades often charge different rates for different clients, which depend on how often the client makes trades or how much money they have in their account. Average commission per trade is a useful metric for companies in the industry in order to determine how their commission charges compare. It can also be seen as a barometer for how different broker-dealers make their revenue and what type of business model they use.
