Bookings are orders that the company has not completed and are added to Backlog as they are accrued. As the orders are filled, the bookings are converted into sales and the backlog decreases. This is metric is commonly used in the Aerospace & Defense industry to determine the value of outstanding orders to be completed that will eventually be converted into revenue.
