Gallons of Fuel Used

RELATED WIKI ARTICLES

Gallons of Fuel Used is the total amount of fuel used by an airline's aircraft.

Gallons of fuel used is largely dependent on an airline's Fleet Size and Available Seat Miles (ASM) but can also be an indication of an airline's fleet age. For example, NWA's newer Airbus A330 uses 38% less fuel than the DC-10's they replaced. Therefore, investments in new, more fuel-efficient aircraft are often part of a long-term strategy to reduce future gallons of fuel used and thus overall fuel expenses.
