Number of Patients

Number of patients is calculated by summing all of the patients a company serves

This metric is used in the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Industry and the Home Healthcare Industry along with other similar Medical Industries to calculate the total number of patients a company serves.

This metric provides insight into the total size and reach of the company. If a company has a high number of total patients, it means that it serves many "customers" and so has a relatively large reach. This metric also indicates whether a company relies on a small group high volume customers or a large group of low volume customers. To accurately judge this, number of patients should be used in conjuncture with the average revenue per patient metric.
