The Footnoted website discovered a SCHEDULE 14A filing in which Aaron's spent $260K to sponsor "the son of the Chief Operating Officer as a driver for the Eddie Sharp Racing team in the ARCA RE/MAX series."
This sort of nepotism disguised as marketing indicates that Aaron's Rents is not being run for the benefit of its owners (shareholders).
While the economics of Aaron's is good, a long-term investor must also try to find companies being run for their benefit, not companies that are basically having their profits looted by the executives.
