Amortization and 2006 Merger Costs

The nine months ended September 30, 2007 included $29.0 million of amortization related to intangible assets associated with the 2006 Merger, versus $17.7 million for the same period in 2006. The nine months ended September 30, 2006 included approximately $17.2 million in direct merger and transaction-related costs and professional fees, as well as a $83.4 million in-process research and development charge recorded in connection with the 2006 Merger step-up.

The six months ended June 30, 2007 included $19.3 million of amortization related to intangible assets associated with the 2006 Merger, versus $8.0 million for the same period in 2006. The six months ended June 30, 2006 included approximately $12.4 million in direct merger and transaction-related costs and professional fees, as well as a $83.4 million in-process research and development charge recorded in connection with the 2006 Merger step-up.
