ACE Appoints New Leaders of Casualty Insurance Business for UK and Ireland

ACE Group today announced two promotions within its UK and Ireland region as it continues to strengthen its management and underwriting team.

Mike Reid, Casualty Manager, Major Risks, has been promoted to the position of Casualty Product Line Manager, UK and Ireland. He will have responsibility for all aspects of the region’s casualty insurance business lines, including setting strategy and direction and ensuring profitable growth. Based in London, he will report to David Robinson, Regional President, UK and Ireland. Mike joined ACE 10 years ago from a major insurance broker and has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in casualty underwriting.

At the same time, Stuart Brown, Senior Casualty Underwriter, has been promoted to the position of Casualty Manager, Major Risks, reporting to Mike. In this role, Stuart will have day-to-day responsibility for all casualty business within ACE’s major risks customer segment, including relationship management with key brokers and clients. Stuart has 12 years of underwriting experience in the casualty insurance market, six of them with ACE.

These changes take place with immediate effect.

Andrew Kendrick, Chairman, ACE European Group, said:

“Following our recent leadership announcements, these latest promotions reinforce our commitment to building a strong UK and Ireland team with the market knowledge and underwriting experience commensurate with our future ambitions for the business. They also bring the number of internal promotions in the region this month to five, highlighting the breadth and depth of talent that exists within ACE.”

Phil Sharpe, Chief Operating Officer, UK and Ireland Retail, said:

“Thanks to our extensive underwriting expertise and unwavering focus on service, I believe ACE presents a compelling proposition for customers with casualty insurance needs. These appointments can only strengthen our offering. Mike and Stuart have a terrific understanding of casualty underwriting and a combined 25 years of industry experience between them. They are true experts in their field and I look forward to working closely with them in their new roles.”

These changes follow three promotions announced on 20 April 2012, when David Robinson was appointed to the role of Regional President, UK and Ireland; Phil Sharpe was appointed Chief Operating Officer, UK and Ireland Retail; and Pat Drinan was appointed Regional Senior Vice President, Accident and Health for ACE’s EMEA region.
