Allstate has historically performed with strength and consistence, and it has made a habit of rewarding shareholders with frequent stock re-buys and dividends. In October 2006, Allstate announced it would raise dividends to 38 cents/share, up 8%, and that it would repurchase $3 billion of its stock.
