BOISE, ID -- (Marketwire) -- 08/13/09 -- Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: AEHI): Idaho's ranking US Senator, Mike Crapo, voiced strong support for
nuclear power in a recent Boise radio station interview and urged Elmore
County residents, the site of AEHI's proposed nuclear plant, to lobby their
local officials to welcome a proposed nuclear plant there.
The caller asked why the nuclear plant in Elmore County wasn't moving
forward on the proposed plant, even though it would bring thousands of jobs
and low cost power to the state.
"First and foremost, I strongly agree with you on the fact we need to have
more nuclear power in this country and I would welcome Idaho being a
location for more nuclear power plants," Crapo told the caller. "I think it
would help us to be much more independent and have the jobs that you talked
about... although I think if you are correct, and I tend to think you are,
that the people in Elmore County support this, then they ought to go to
their county commissioners and make sure their county commissioners and
their planning and zoning board understand the wishes of their
constituents...," Crapo said.
"I strongly, strongly agree with you that the fact is, we need to recognize
the value of nuclear power in many different contexts to our nation and to
our communities," Crapo concluded.
AEHI CEO, Don Gillispie, said, "Senator Crapo continues to show strong
support for commercial nuclear power in the US Senate and in Idaho while
understanding the importance of local control in nuclear plant siting."
