TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- PCT International, a leading worldwide manufacturer of last mile and access network solutions for broadband communications networks, announced today a suite of optical network passive components that is designed to enable cable system operators to capitalize more quickly on the growing cellular backhaul market.
The passives, part of PCT International's EQ Link® fiber solution, will enable cable operators to leverage the company's substantial fiber and HFC network expertise to create single-source solutions that expedite the rollout of cellular backhaul deployments. The market for cellular backhaul is expected to reach $23 billion by 2012, according to published reports by ABI Research.
PCT International will demonstrate its optical fiber solutions at its booth (#13089) at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo next month in Denver.
"Cellular backhaul represents significant revenue potential for the cable industry, but operators understandably have been careful to ensure that fiber rollouts do not disrupt existing video service," said Brandon Wilson, executive vice president, product management and marketing for PCT International. "By combining our expertise in fiber with our deep understanding of cable operators' needs, we've been able to develop solutions that can generate new revenue while preserving the service assurances our customers require."
The EQ Link passives include a wide variety of CWDM and DWDM multiplexers and filters that have been designed for use in headends or in field installations, and can be configured to meet the needs of individual cable system operators.
All EQ Link elements are designed with 1310nm pass-through ports that enable operators to preserve traditional HFC video services. In addition, they feature high adjacent channel isolation to eliminate interference as well as wide pass-band performance to ensure stable operation in situations in which temperatures vary widely.
