AptarGroup (ATR) is a packaging company that produces dispensing systems for a number of industries and products. The company had $1.9 billion in revenue during 2007.
The company operates in three segments: beauty and home, closures and pharma. The types of dispensing systems the company produces include: pumps, dispensing closures and valves. Pumps are the type of system you would use for a product like liquid soap. A dispensing closure would be something like you would see on a tube of toothpaste or a plastic ketchup bottle. A valve is used on aerosol spray cans. The revenue breakdown per segment during 2007 was: 53% beauty and home, 26% closures and 21% pharma. The company is an international player with only 26% of its sales in the US, while 62% were to European customers. The largest concentration of European customers were in France (28% of total revenue), Germany (14%) and Italy (8%).
