Atlas Copco in China
In the early 1980s, Atlas Copco established a company in Hong Kong with "Representative Offices" in Beijing, Guangzhou and Guangzhou.
In 1983-1985 Atlas Copco entered into product license agreements with six Chinese companies for the local production of some selected products.
Starting 1983, Atlas Copco used Joint Ventures to develop its China business.
Since 1998, Atlas Copco endeavors to incorporate its companies as Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprises, 100% owned by Atlas Copco, whenever possible.
Atlas Copco in China handles the sales, service and marketing of air and gas compressors, portable compressors, generators, construction and mining equipment, pneumatic and electric power tools and assembly systems, all backed up by a nationwide sales, distribution, service and maintenance network.
Atlas Copco currently has 9 companies on the Chinese Mainland (including 5 factories), producing, selling and servicing Compressors and Generators, Construction and Mining Equipment, and Industrial Tools and Assembly Systems. Atlas Copco has sales and service offices in 40 locations through out China, and there are over 150 contracted distributors.
Atlas Copco is growing rapidly in China, representing an important part of worldwide Atlas Copco sales and having over 2,000 employees. Sales to the manufacturing industry correspond to around half the sales, followed by the process & construction industries and other important industries like mining etc. Our companies in China are exporting to sister companies throughput Asia and also to overseas Atlas Copco distribution centers.
