In United States

BNP Paribas owns Bank of the West. It has investment banking capabilities via its BancWest subsidiary. it is strong in equity derivatives, structured products and project finance.

On 10 June 2008, BNP Paribas formally signed the final terms of an agreement to purchase the Prime Brokerage Services division of Banc of America Securities.

The deal brings more than 500 clients and over 300 employees to BNP Paribas corporate and investment banking. The transaction also involves the transfer of client relationships, employees and technology systems.

In China

In 2006 Nanjing City Commercial Bank (NCCB) and BNP Paribas have concluded their partnership under which the latter has acquired from several shareholders a 19.2% shareholding in NCCB and becomes the second largest shareholder in the Chinese bank.

BNP Paribas and NCCB are to establish a close cooperation in certain operational areas, including retail banking, fixed-income transactions, consumer finance, wealth management, risk management and information technology.

BNP Paribas (SA)’s capital thus amounts at present to €1,823,540,634 divided into 911,770,317 shares with a par value of €2.
