Although South America has a thriving economy, detached from the US and Europe to a large extent, Brazil is also heavily subject to hot international money. As such, it is a myth to describe the economy as detached from that of the world economy; on the contrary, global weakness could cause money to flow rapidly out of Brazil, into which it has recently flooded. Those expecting renewed global weakness should not therefore look on Banco Bradesco as being isolated from the woes of "mature" economies.
