Bharat Electronics Limited (BOM:500049) is a major supplier of products and turnkey systems to the Indian Defence Services. Over the years, BEL has diversified into manufacturing many civilian products as well. Large turnkey telecommunication solutions are also being offered to civilan market. Its products and services include: Defence Communication, Radars and Sonars, Telecomm, Broadcasting Equipments and studio systems, EVM (Electronic Voting Machines), Solar Products & Systems, Turnkey Systems.
- Exports play a key role in BEL's strategic perspective. The ranges of products and services exported have been increasing over the years. A number of international companies are using the facilities at BEL for contract manufacturing.
- BEL has manufacturing units at Panchkula, Kotdwara, Ghaziabad,Navi Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Machlipatnam, Chennai and Bangalore. The registered office is situated in Bangalore.
- BEL has signed an MoU with BHEL to explore formation of a joint venture company for Solar Photo voltaic business. The JVC, besides export, will cater to Indian solar products requirements. A capacity of 250 MW is being envisaged to achieve economies of scale. Other MoU include - one with Boeing to jointly develop an analysis and experimentation centre in India, MoU with SELEX Galileo and Astra Microwave Products to explore opportunities in Electronic Warfare and for design and manufacture of Microwave components & assemblies, respectively. BEL has been selected by Northrop Grumman for the manufacture of F-16 Radar components. Just recently, BEL has finalized a JV with French Company Thales to jointly produce radars.
