DENVER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 04/12/12 -- The 5th annual International Biomass Conference & Expo, the world's largest and fastest growing biomass conference, is taking place April 16-19, 2012 in Denver, CO. The 2012 agenda -- featuring five comprehensive tracks -- is tightly focused on leading edge developments in the biomass industry, from cultivation, harvest and storage to conversion technology, project finance and regulatory guidance.
"We are excited about the overwhelming interest we have received from new companies looking to get involved in the biomass industry," says Tim Portz, Program Director for BBI International. "Attendees will learn a tremendous amount of new industry information through the five comprehensive program tracks we have put together this year."
The 2012 program will include 30-plus panels and more than 100 speakers, including 90 technical presentations.
Track 1: Pellets & Densified Biomass
Track 2: Industrial & Commercial Thermal Energy
Track 3: Biomass Power
Track 4: Biogas & Landfill Gas

In addition to the panel sessions, attendees will be able to visit current biomass facilities and projects located around the Denver Metro area. Tours include the following locations:
Another hot topic at this year's conference is the use of biomass to help reduce forest fires and improve the current conditions of Rocky Mountain forests.
"Forest energy is a critical part of Colorado's new energy economy. Using biomass can help mitigate wildfires, restore forest health, improve public safety and safeguard water quality," says Mike Eckoff, a doctoral candidate in the Colorado State University forest and rangeland stewardship program. "In fact, of all our renewable resources, forest biomass is the one that can hurt us when we choose not to use it."
