Brite Strike Tactical (OTCBB: BSTK) develops world class products for the law enforcement sector including functional, high powered flashlights such as the Brite-Strike Tactical Blue-Dot(TM) Series and the Cover Your Assets(TM) Duty Light Camera that uses the latest 3G video technology to protect officers, departments and municipalities from frivolous lawsuits.[1]. Other products include the BTL-150, the Lightening-Strike Personal Protection System(TM) and Tactical Balls(TM).

Brite-Strike Tactical Illumination Products, Inc. was developed by two police officers with nearly forty years combined experience, to create and market world-class tactical LED flashlights with features that police officers and civilians can use as a non-lethal means of defense. The Company is committed to using the latest technology, world-class components and the highest design and manufacturing standards to become the leading provider of tactical illumination and personal protection products in the world.

Business Overview

Brite-Strike Tactical (BSTK) was started by two police officers to create world class tactical flashlights, that not only functioned as standard police equipment but also function as self-defense gear for citizens. Brite-Strike Flashlights are "used by SWAT team members, some FBI agents and others in law enforcement" according to CEO Glenn Bushee during an interview on the Boston Channel. The Brite Strike line of flash lights are considered to be the most compact, durable and brightest flashlights on the market for self-defense, military, police personnel, outdoor professionals, hunters and for general use. The brilliant, flawless white light emitted by these small, easy to carry LED flashlights, is a self-defense product which temporarily disorients an attacker, potentially stopping a rape or an assault before it happens. All our tactical flashlights use the latest Luxeon LED and EMP chip technology, as older LED and incandescent lighting technology cannot compare.

Brite Strike has recently expanded into the consumer market with the 'Lightning-Strike Personal Protection System(TM) that is designed to help keep women safe. On September 8, 2009 the company announced "a new, lower cost line of lights, with promotional, retail prices as low as $49 to $69. The BTL-150 Series, are Basic Tactical Lights which offer 150 lumens of super bright, pure, flawless white light, in a durable aluminum body with an anodized finish." [2]

Business and Financial Metrics

The market potential for this product is huge and includes the 650,000+ uniformed police officers in the US as well as military personnel and women seeking personal security. The company's products are on sale not only at their website but Herringtons, BJ's, Loews and other retail stores. All products are made from world-class components using the latest technology and are held to the highest design and manufacturing standards. They even feature a tri-sided barrel and crown for a more ergonomic grip and maximum impact pressure for extreme situations.

The products offer a new alternative for law enforcement officials to subdue suspects in a less-than-lethal manner. The personal protection line offers a flawless beam of white light in a small and convenient size with the goal of keeping women safe. Bright Strike is a major advocate of the campaign to stop violence against women, and their seven-piece personal protection system is designed to do just that. The easy-to-store (and use) light can momentarily blind and disorient attackers, giving victims time to escape. Last year over 900,000 women were attacked at night in the US. Bright Strike hopes to help greatly reduce that number and improve the odds of women fighting back.

The company has branched out and developed products for personal citizens. Their patented Lightening Strike Personal Protection System emits an ear-piercing personal alarm along with a high-intensity flashing strobe light to deter the approach of potential attackers. The system was specifically designed for women, senior citizens, students and other citizens wanting an easy-to-use personal protection system.

Brite-Strike had previously only been available via word-of-mouth, the company website, or a number of high-end catalogs including Frontgate and Herrington. The company recently entered into agreements with several retailers, including BJ's Wholesale Clubs, Lowes.com and Amazon.com, to carry the Brite-Strike products.

Business Segments and Product Portfolio

Brite-Strike's line of products puts them into two separate categories of flashlights; both of which utilize LED technology but different power sources. In the tactical illumination market, Brite-Strike is presented with competition from companies like SureFire, Streamlight, Insight, Inova and others. While the general and other use segment is controlled by competitors such as MagLite, Energizer and Lumecraft.

Brite-Strike's products are currently sold through specialty catalogs and websites, including Herrington and Frontgate. In the summer of 2008, the Company reached a deal with BJ's Wholesale Clubs to carry their Lightning-Strike Personal Protection System in 28 locations in the eastern United States.

The company has designed the Brite-Strike Tactical Blue-Dot Patrol Officer flashlight series specifically for officers. The flashlights are made from milled aircraft aluminum, making them significantly lighter and easier to handle. They have a unique three-sided body for an ergonomic grip, with a front and rear Tri-Strike crown for maximum impact for pressure-point and weapon-retention techniques. The flashlights utilize the latest version of electronic power management (EPM), and are all made from LED lights that hold more than 100,000 hours of use so no bulb replacement is necessary.

Compared to an ordinary flashlight, the Brite-Strike beam is a brilliant white light with a wider spread for flood effect. This results in an entire area of a vehicle on a stop being illuminated, and allows the officer to quickly look for weapons, drugs, or someone trying to hide inside the vehicle. If a police officer is attacked, the white light has the ability to temporarily blind and disorient a subject during a hostile situation. With a quick click of the end cap switch, the light switches to a low setting for use as a normal flashlight. The end cap switch is flush, preventing accidental power switches from on to off.

Trends and Factors

In the past, numerous police departments came under public scrutiny when officers used their heavy metal flashlights for beating suspects. Many police departments and law enforcement agencies have now abandoned those heavy-duty flashlights. This series of events led to having the old flashlights replaced with lightweight flashlights that are small but very bright, with the ability to be used as a self-defense mechanism to disorient an attacker.

With a rise of lawsuits and suspensions due to police misconduct and misuse of alternative weapons such as tasers and riot control weapons, there appears to be a need for tactical flashlights in the law enforcement, military and correctional arenas. Violent crimes are also on the rise and further emphasized by events in the media on college campuses and communities around the United States. Since Brite-Strike designs and develops products for law enforcement and personal protection markets, they company could see growth with further product releases, media attention, and an increased willingness to further enter the retail marketplace.

Competition

Brite-Strike has developed products which emit brilliant, flawless light, using the latest Luxeon LED and EMP chip technology. The company uses this to gain advantage over companies that use older LED and incandescent lighting technology which cannot compare. The combination of Luxeon and EMP chip technology utilized in Brite-Strike's products offers a high intensity and high quality light. As a result, the company's has made progress in developing tactical illumination and general use products that achieve high lumen count in a compact and manageable design.

More specifically, Brite-Strike's products use Lumiled Luxeon LED light technology provided by Phillips. This type of LED is said to generate 10 to 15 times more lumens than average LEDs, while using an equivalent or less power consumption rate.

Brite-Strike in the Media

On August 13, 2008, USA Today magazine devoted an entire page to Bright Strike Tactical Illumination Products Incorporated, a company devoted to the manufacturing and sales of tactical police flashlights, citizen safety lights and personal protection systems. Bright Strike's products are already in use by many satisfied customers, including members of all four military branches, FBI and CIA agents, and thousands of women concerned with safety and self-defense.

Brite-Strike has also received some positive attention in the media through their alliance and support of STOP AOW (Assaults on Women). The Company announced their official support of the new non-profit organization in June 2009. STOP AOW, also headquartered in Kingston, MA, shares a common interest with Brite-Strike in that they are dedicated to providing education and awareness to prevent further assaults on women.

Brite-Strike management is involved in gathering support from experienced police officers from nearby communities to participate in teaching women self-defense tactics. Incorporating the Company's Lightning Strike(TM) Personal Protection System, which serves to distract and disorient an attacker using non-lethal tools, has become an important part of the STOP A.O.W. program.

The system, available in 28 BJ's Wholesale Club locations in the eastern United States, includes a slim, 4 inch tactical flashlight which projects a high-intensity light to momentarily distract and disorient an attacker. A unique, key chain-sized 100 decibel personal alarm, leather holster and carrying straps are also provided in the Lightning Strike Personal Protection System.

It has been suggested that such products and self-defense programs could expand the Company's marketing efforts to school districts and college campuses around the country.
