Report of Independent Registered Public Accounting Firm The Board of Directors and Shareholders CVS Caremark Corporation: We have reviewed the consolidated condensed balance sheets of CVS Caremark Corporation (the Company) as of March 31, 2009 and March 29, 2008, and the related consolidated condensed statements of operations and cash flows for the fiscal quarters then ended. These financial statements are the responsibility of the Companys management. We conducted our reviews in accordance with the standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (United States). A review of interim financial information consists principally of applying analytical procedures and making inquiries of persons responsible for financial and accounting matters. It is substantially less in scope than an audit conducted in accordance with the standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, the objective of which is the expression of an opinion regarding the financial statements taken as a whole. Accordingly, we do not express such an opinion. Based on our reviews, we are not aware of any material modifications that should be made to the consolidated condensed financial statements referred to above for them to be in conformity with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. As discussed in Note 1 to the consolidated condensed financial statements, effective December 30, 2007, CVS Caremark Corporation adopted Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) No. 06-4, Accounting for Deferred Compensation and Postretirement Benefit Aspects of Endorsement Split-Dollar Life Insurance Arrangements, and EITF No. 06-10, Accounting for Collateral Assignment Split-Dollar Life Insurance Arrangements, and effective January 1, 2009 CVS Caremark Corporation adopted Statement of Financial Accounting Standard No. 141(R), Business Combinations. We have previously audited, in accordance with the standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (United States), the consolidated balance sheet of CVS Caremark Corporation as of December 31, 2008, and the related consolidated statements of operations, shareholders equity, and cash flows for the fiscal year then ended not presented herein and in our report dated February 26, 2009, we expressed an unqualified opinion on those consolidated financial statements and included an explanatory paragraph for the adoption of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes-an interpretation of FASB Statement No.109, EITF No. 06-4, and EITF No. 06-10.
