The lawn and garden segment also produces private-label and value brands for certain retail customers, including Wal-Mart. The lawn and garden products are sold to mass merchants, home improvement specialty retailers, nurseries, and warehouse clubs. On January 3, 2007, the Board of Directors declared a special dividend in the form of two shares of Class A non-voting common stock for each share held of the company's common stock and Class B common stock. The dividend stock certificates were distributed on February 5, 2007 to the shareholders of record on January 14, 2007.
