Effective July 1, 2008, the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors (the "Committee") of Chesapeake Energy Corporation set the annual base salaries of the named executive officers at $975,000 for Aubrey K. McClendon, $860,000 for Marcus C. Rowland, $860,000 for Steven C. Dixon, $800,000 for Douglas J. Jacobson, $775,000 for J. Mark Lester and $700,000 for Martha A. Burger. In addition, the Committee awarded cash bonuses to the named executive officers, payable on July 18, 2008, of $975,000 for Aubrey K. McClendon, $650,000 for Marcus C. Rowland, $650,000 for Steven C. Dixon, $550,000 for Douglas J. Jacobson, $525,000 for J. Mark Lester and $425,000 for Martha A. Burger

On June 9, 2006, the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors set the annual base salaries of, and awarded cash bonuses to, Chesapeake’s named executive officers and its chief operating officer, effective July 1, 2006. The new base salaries and the cash bonuses, respectively, are as follows: Aubrey K. McClendon $975,000 and $750,000; Steven C. Dixon $725,000 and $500,000; Marcus C. Rowland $725,000 and $500,000; Martha A. Burger $550,000 and $325,000; and Michael A. Johnson $400,000 and $175,000.

Rowland, $275,000 for Martha A. Burger and $150,000 for Michael A. Johnson. Effective February 13, 2006, Steven C. Dixon was named Chesapeake’s Executive Vice President – Operations and Chief Operating Officer. His 2006 annual base salary is $625,000. Mr. Ward resigned as President and Chief Operating Officer effective February 10, 2006.
