H3C Chooses Commtouch Messaging Security Technology to Enhance Unified Threat Management Series

H3C® Technologies, one of the largest computer networking companies in China, announced today that it has selected Commtouch® (NASDAQ:CTCH) messaging security technology for integration into its new Unified Threat Management (UTM) platforms series.

The H3C SecPath Unified Security Platforms are embedded with Commtouch Anti-Spam based on Recurrent Pattern DetectionTM (RPDTM) technology to provide messaging and networking security for small and medium businesses and enterprises in China, Asia Pacific and throughout the world.

“Our new UTM requires an exceptional level of messaging security for our customers,” said Zhou Shunlin, director of security products and vice president of research and development at H3C. “We chose to partner with Commtouch because of its demonstrated experience with the Chinese market and its language-agnostic technology, which has proven to be especially effective with double-byte Asian languages. Commtouch offers the quality that we were seeking for our customers.”

Because of the need to secure against new threats, the market for multifunction firewalls like H3C’s UTM product is expected to continue experiencing growth. Gartner forecasts a 20-25 percent compound annual growth rate worldwide for the SMB multifunction firewall market through 20121. Messaging security technology such as spam, phishing and malware protection is an integral part of many multifunction firewall platforms.

“H3C’s new line of UTM platforms combines our advanced messaging security technologies with its innovative networking solutions,” said Ido Hadari, Commtouch vice president of international business development and sales. “For the past few years, Commtouch has been committed to strengthening and expanding our activities in China, and working with one of China’s leading security vendors is truly exciting for us. This partnership benefits both companies by opening up new opportunities in the region and in the global market.”
