This excerpt taken from the CPBC 10-K filed Apr 2, 2007. D. Significant Concentrations of Credit Risk Most of the Companys activities are with customers located within Monmouth County, New Jersey and Union County, New Jersey. Note 3 discusses the types of securities that the Company invests in. Note 4 discusses the types of lending that the Company engages in. Although the Company actively manages the diversification of its loan portfolio, a substantial portion of its debtors ability to honor their contracts is dependent upon the strength of the local economy. The loan portfolio includes commercial real estate, which is comprised of owner occupied and investment real estate, including general office, medical, manufacturing and retail space. Construction loans, short-term in nature, comprise another portion of the portfolio, along with commercial and industrial loans. The latter includes lines of credit and equipment loans. From time to time, the Company may purchase or sell an interest in a loan from or to another lender (participation loan) in order to manage its portfolio risk. Loans purchased by the Company are typically located in central New Jersey and meet the Companys own independent underwriting guidelines. The Company does not have any significant concentrations in any one industry or customer. |
