Cameron Hughes Wine Debuts New Eco-Friendly Wine Bottle

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Cameron Hughes Wine, a modern international negociant (www.chwine.com), is shipping its first-ever eco series glass mold for its Lot 150 Meritage distributed at Sam's Club. The high-quality wine bottle, designed by Saint-Gobain Containers, reduces the overall impact on the environment while having the same characteristics and presence as its traditional glass counterpart.

"We're excited to use an eco-friendly wine bottle and look forward to doing this with other Lot wines soon," said Cameron Hughes, founder of Cameron Hughes Wine.

The eco-conceived version is a major improvement in sustainable design and manufacturing. At 16 ounces, the bottle weighs less than the standard 19 ounces, which in turn reduces the use of raw materials by 16 percent. For every 20,000 cases, Cameron Hughes Wine will save approximately 22.5 tons of raw materials. That translates to the annual electricity use of three homes, annual greenhouse gas emissions of four passenger vehicles and the equivalent of planting 580 trees.

"Our ECO Series line allows wineries to support their sustainability objectives while still maintaining the aesthetic appeal and quality of a traditional wine bottle," said Bob Parise, vice president of sales and marketing for Saint-Gobain Containers.

Cameron Hughes Wine has been committed to managing its carbon footprint since 2006. In 2008, the company shipped more than 10,000 packages directly to consumers using 100 percent recyclable shippers and inserts.
