Short-Term Investments

The Company’s short-term investments consist of securities of the U.S. government or its agencies and certificates of deposit with maturities ranging from one to twelve months. The Company has classified its short-term investments as “available-for-sale” and carries them at fair value with unrealized gains and losses, if any, reported as a separate component of stockholders’ equity and included in comprehensive loss. Realized gains and losses are calculated on the specific identification method and recorded as interest income.
