Save Money and Energy with DP&L Rebates and Discounts

Saving money is easy with Dayton Power and Light’s (DP&L) energy efficiency programs. Residential customers can save energy and money with DP&L’s discounted compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), appliance recycling and heating and cooling rebates.

DP&L Discounts on Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Changing a light bulb takes seconds, but the savings will last throughout the year. Customers can turn a savings of $1.30 into $1,252 if they replace all the light bulbs in their homes with CFLs. The average number of light bulb sockets in most homes is 40. With a savings of at least $1.30 on each bulb with the DP&L discount, that adds up to an immediate savings of $52.

But it’s the savings over the life of the bulbs that really adds up--$30 for each CFL multiplied by 40 bulbs equals $1,200. Add that to your initial savings and it’s $1,252.

DP&L customer savings

Over 525,000 CFLs have been sold since DP&L’s program started in February. Based on the $1.30 discount and $30 energy savings over the life of each CFL, customers will save over $16.4 million over the life of these light bulbs.

A variety of discounted Energy Star bulbs are available in 150 retail locations, including the newly added GE bulbs at Walmart. A complete list of participating retailers is available by calling 866-668-9581 or by visiting http://lighting.dpandl.com.

DP&L Will Pick Up Your Old Refrigerator or Freezer and Send You a Check for $25

Through DP&L’s appliance recycling program customers can schedule a convenient pick up to have their old refrigerators and freezers collected and recycled for free. And even better – participating customers receive a $25 check from DP&L. By replacing an old working refrigerator or freezer with a high-efficiency one that uses less energy, customers can see an electric bill savings of up to $150 per year. All DP&L residential customers can schedule a free pick-up by calling 877-545-4112 or by registering online at www.dpandl.com/save (click on appliance recycling).

DP&L Offers Customers Rebates for Installing New Heating and Air Conditioning Systems

DP&L also offers a rebate program, from $200 to $600, to reduce the cost of central air conditioning and heat pump upgrades. The rebates are designed to provide an incentive to install high-efficiency units that use less energy and save customers money on their bills. By replacing an old unit with a high-efficiency new unit, customers can save about $150 a year on their electric bills. Participating contractors can help you select a qualified system that’s right for your home. To find a participating contractor, or for more information, go to www.dpandl.com/save and click on heating and cooling. Or, call 877-230-6937.

These residential programs are part of DP&L’s ongoing energy efficiency efforts, which also include rebates for business customers. The energy efficiency initiatives will help customers save money, are good for the environment and will help to meet Ohio’s energy efficiency targets to reduce electricity consumption by 22% by the end of 2025.
