believe that the AcuForm technology may improve the ratio of therapeutic effect
to toxicity by decreasing the initial peak concentrations of a drug associated
with toxicity, while maintaining levels of the drug at therapeutic, subtoxic
concentrations for an extended period of time. Many drugs demonstrate optimal
efficacy when concentrations are maintained at therapeutic levels over an
extended period of time. When a drug is administered intermittently, the
therapeutic concentration is often exceeded for some period after which
concentrations fall below therapeutic levels. Excessively high concentrations
are a major cause of side effects and subtherapeutic concentrations are
ineffective.
