A discounted retailer of common household goods, DLTR benefits from consumers who want to reduce spending during the current economic downturn. In contrast to the slower growth rates of non-discount retailers, DLTR saw an increase of 11.6% in total sales revenue during Q3 2008 (ended Nov. 1, 2008) when compared to Q3 2007. Net income for Q3 2008 was also up 15% from the prior-year quarter. DLTR's sales revenue increase is largely due to the increase in its customer base during the consumer-lead recession. [1]
