Headquartered in Marietta, PA, Donegal Group Inc. (DGICA) is an insurance holding company that offers personal and commercial lines of insurance to individual and small businesses through its wholly-owned subsidiaries -- Atlantic States Insurance Company and Southern Insurance Company of Virginia -- and its affiliate, Donegal Mutual Insurance Company, with which it has a pooling arrangement. Donegal Group completed its IPO in 1986, with Donegal Mutual retaining a majority interest. While the two companies maintain a separate corporate existence, they do business together as The Donegal Insurance Group. DGICA operates in 18 states throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Southeastern, and Midwestern regions of the US and distributes its products through a network of approximately 1,500 independent insurance agencies. The company has a diverse product line of personal, farm, and commercial products, such as business owners, commercial multi-peril, automobile, homeowners, boat owners, farm owners, workers' compensation and other coverage. For FY06, about two-thirds of the company's net premiums written came from personal lines insurance, with the remainder from commercial lines insurance.
