British chemicals maker Elementis Plc reported a strong start to the year with its specialty products business performing strongly, prompting the company to forecast full-year earnings in line with market expectations.

Elementis plc is a specialty chemicals company comprising three businesses: Specialty Products, Surfactants and Chromium. Elementis Specialties is a manufacturer of specialty additives. The main products include rheology control agents for solvent and water-based coatings applications, as well as applications in the construction, oil drilling and personal care markets. Elementis Surfactants is a producer of surface active ingredients that are used in a range of applications, including oilfield chemicals, pulp and paper, and household products. It has production facility in Delden, the Netherlands, which is shared with Elementis Specialty Products. Elementis Chromium is a producer of chromium chemicals. It operates three facilities: Eaglescliffe, United Kingdom, and at Castle Hayne and Corpus Christi, United States. On August 31, 2007 the Group sold its global Pigments business. In July 2008, the Company acquired Deuchem Co., Ltd.
