Carbon is one of the fundamental elements and is capable of forming an enormous variety of compounds. As a result of these characteristics, carbon is one of the most widely used elements in manufacturing processes of all kinds. Graphite is the crystalline form of carbon. Graphite can be processed to be resistant to corrosive materials, withstand high temperatures and act as either a conductor of, or an insulator from, heat and electricity. Graphite is both manmade (called
