Green Hunter Energy was formed to acquire clean and renewable energy assets. The company currently has projects in the biodiesel, wind energy and electricity from biowaste sectors of the clean energy space.
Green Hunter BioFuels
Green Hunter has acquired a refining plant on the Houston ship channel that will have the capacity to produce 105 million gallons of biodiesel per year. The plant had reached 65% of production capacity before damage from Hurricane Ike in the fall 2008 shut down the plant until late November of the same year.
The plant is a true refinery and can produce biodiesel from any feed stock. Future company plans include owning Jatropha plantations to control their own feedstock.
Green Hunter BioPower
Green Hunter has acquired an 18.5 MW waste to electricity facility in El Centro, California. The plant was built in 1989 and has been dormant since 1994. Green Hunter is refurbishing the facility and expects to start producing electricity in the middle of 2009.
The primary feedstock of the power plant will be cow manure.
Green Hunter Wind Energy
Green Hunter is working on wind projects in Montana, California and New Mexico. Construction is expected to begin in 2009.
The company has an investment in and exclusive U.S. rights to the wind turbines produced by MingYang Wind Power Technology Co., Ltd, a Chinese company.
