If it came from China, it needs an extra quality check. How much do such fears hurt stocks? One way to try isolating the impact is to track the share price of Harbin Electric, a China-based motor company listed in the U.S.

Harbin Electric is a China-based manufacturer of electric motors (linear motors, micro motors, and rotary motors) used in a range of applications from mail sorting machines to automobile seats. The company primarily sells its products domestically, but also sells internationally.

The company went private on November 1, 2011.[1]
