Little Upside with Prospect of Buyout: With the company's buyout scheduled to consummate in early 2008, HET's share price appears to be pegged by widespread certainty that the deal will close. Thus share prices are not likely to increase beyond the buyout price of $90 per share. Conversely, any disruptions in the buyout process may affect share prices drastically. Failure to Expand Operations to Macau: With the vast majority of its competitors racing to obtain market share in Macau, HET is at a distinct disadvantage without a gaming license on the island which had recently overtaken Las Vegas as the most profitable gaming city in the world. Exposure to Natural Disasters: As seen from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, HET's properties are significantly exposed to the extremes of natural weather. Incidents such as these are not preventable, and HET, even with insurance, is still subjected to deductibles and maximum payouts. |
