Company Overview

Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc.(NYSE:HVT) is a producer of residential furniture, including living room furniture, bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, and bedding products. Haverty operates retail stores in 17 states of the Midwest and Southern regions of the United States. Recently, Haverty has suffered from a weak housing market and lower discretionary spending among its target customers.[1]

Business Growth

In FY2010, Haverty reported revenues of $162 million, a 2% increase year-over-year. [2] This growth in furniture sales was due to increased consumer confidence and the fact that housing activity was buoyed by the home buyer tax credit in 2010. [3]

Haverty Furniture competes with firms that offer residential furniture, especially living room furniture, bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, and bedding products.
