1. Hexagon Pays $2 Billion for Software Maker Intergraph July 07, 2010, 6:08 AM EDT

July 7 (Bloomberg) -- Hexagon AB, the world’s biggest maker of measuring instruments, agreed to buy Intergraph Corp. for $2.13 billion to add software that helps companies visualize complex data and design factories, ships and oil rigs. Hexagon will help Intergraph boost sales in China, Ola Rollen, the Swedish company’s chief executive officer, said by phone today. “We have 14 regional offices, four factories and more than 1,500 employees in China,” Rollen said. “We’ll help Intergraph reach more customers through our sales organization in China.” Hexagon may also pursue “some smaller complementary acquisitions.”

2. Hexagon acquires precision instruments supplier in China 2008-07-24 15:00

Hexagon has entered into an agreement to acquire the Chinese company Serein Metrology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd (www.serein.com.cn).

Serein Metrology develops and produces a wide range of advanced precision measuring instruments in the micro area of the measurement technologies market. The company provides high quality products, solutions and services to the automotive industry, aerospace and defence industry, engineering industry, die and mould industry, electronics, IT and medical industry.

Serein Metrology is based in Shenzhen, China, and today employs 98 people. The company had a turnover of approximately 4 MUSD in 2007 and is expected to grow at a double digit rate in the years to come.

"The acquisition of Serein Metrology is an important step in the positioning of Hexagon in the China low and middle end market and will consolidate Hexagon's strong position in the region", says Ola Rollén, CEO and President of Hexagon AB.
