Worldwide semiconductor sales grew 7.6% in July 2008 compared to July 2007. This is for all semiconductor sales and not specifically Intel. The growth is attributable to strength in cellphone and PC sales in particular.
Dreamworks Animation movies will be in 3-D from 2009 onward. Dreamworks is using the Intel InTru 3-D to power the 3-D pictures.
Intel's new Turbo technology gives the ability to speed up the performance of segment of the chip while powering down other segments or calculating engines on the chip. This is another innovation in the important effort to maximize performance while minimizing power consumption.
Intel has developed Remote Wake, which is able to remotely access a PC that is either on or in sleep mode. Remote Wake uses the internet to access the PC so documents, pictures, and other files can be retrieved. Remote Wake is compatible with desktops that have the new Intel chipset and software.
Intel has launched the first in its new line of systme on chips. Intel says the chip is 34% more power efficient and takes up 45% less space than previous designs.

Intel Corporation’s stock price fell as supply for computer chips is exceeding the demand. The excess supply can lead to a price war between Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Device (AMD). A falling price in turn will reduce earnings in the industry.
