History

November 4, 1961 Foundation of a State-owned enterprise under the name of "Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Zakładów Górniczych za Granicą - KOPEX" /Overseas Mine Construction Company - KOPEX/ with the seat in Katowice.

January 1, 1962 KOPEX was entered in the Register of State-owned Enterprises. KOPEX started the activity as a General Supplier of complete mining facilities /projects and equipment for export.

May 15, 1971 KOPEX obtained an authorization for conducting business in foreign trade covering, on exclusiveness basis, export and import of mining and drilling machinery and equipment, as well as turn-key mining projects.

January 1, 1989 As a result of reorganization made, set up was a State-owned enterprise under the name of Przedsiębiorstwo Eksportu i Importu "KOPEX"/Export and Import Company “KOPEX”/ in Katowice.

October 25, 1993 By virtue of Ordinance, No. 267/Or.93, of the Minister of Industry and Trade the enterprise was transformed into a Single-Entity Partnership of State Treasury under the name of "Przedsiębiorstwo Eksportu i Importu KOPEX Spółka Akcyjna" / Export – Import Joint-Stock Company KOPEX/.

January 3, 1994 The Company was entered in the Commercial Register under number RHB 10375.

December 17, 1996 The Resolution No. 142 of the Ministers' Council opened for KOPEX S.A. a road to entry to the Stock Exchange.

June 4, 1998 The Company's debut in the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The entry in the Stock Exchange opens up for the Company new prospects and chances of capital development.

July 12, 2001 The Company was entered in the National Judicial Register under number 0000026782

October 23, 2003 By the decision of District Court (Sąd Rejonowy w Katowicach) the Company’s name has changed - from "KOPEX SA Export – Import Company" to "KOPEX SA" (Joint Stock Company).

December 16, 2004 On 16th December 2004 the National Sugar Company /Krajowa Spółka Cukrowa/ became the owner of 1 285 929 shares to the bearer at PLN 10 per share nominal value, i.e. 64.64 % in share capital of KOPEX Joint Stock Company with its seat in Katowice. National Sugar Company is entitled to 1 285 929 votes on Shareholders’ General Meeting of KOPEX S.A. according to the amount of the shares taken up – it is adequate with 64.64 % of the total number of votes.

February 9, 2006 On 9th February 2006 Zabrzańskie Zakłady Mechaniczne S.A. (Zabrzańskie Mechanical Works Joint Stock Company) purchased 1,285,929 shares of KOPEX Joint Stock Company at average price of PLN 62.75 per share. At present the Company is the owner of 1,294,180 shares of KOPEX SA which are equal to 65.06% of KOPEX’s stock capital and 65.06% of voting right at KOPEX Shareholders’ General Meeting.
