Cash Equivalents Cash equivalents represent cash, demand deposits, and highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less and are recorded at cost, which approximates fair value. Cash is invested in money market funds and bank deposits. Cash equivalents outside the United States are invested in local currency money market funds and bank deposits.
